The Texodus
Blogging about what’s on my mind.
I’m a bit of a nomad, having been born in Virginia, grown up in Michigan, gone to college in Ohio, served three churches for 40 years in California and Ohio, and now live in Texas. And while this is my address, I work with an agency that takes me overseas regularly and has me traveling in the U.S. as well. Life has been, and continues to be a journey! Along the way, I experience things that prompt me to reflect and sometimes to write—below are links to some of the results.
And the blog name? It’s a tribute to where I live, the path that brought me here, and the reminder that wherever I am, I am still on the way to my real home.
“Craig Miller is one of those rare individuals who always has something worthwhile to add to the conversation. He’s a careful Bible scholar who teaches the Word so compellingly that you sit up and take notice. He reads broadly and thinks deeply. Craig is a mature follower of Christ whom I count on for solid and biblical advice, thought-provoking challenge, and wise counsel. Plan to bookmark his online work; it’s worth your time.”

Who are “The Least of These?”
I’m posting a lesson I taught yesterday on Matthew 25:31-46, on how best to interpret this passage that is often misapplied.
A Strange Ordination
“Ordination” is a longstanding practice of acknowledging the calling of a person to serve the Lord vocationally—usually as a pastor or preacher. But its origins predate the Church. There is one ordination in the Bible that defies all categories, and launched the ministry of a man who thought God had taken away his calling to do more than he could have dreamed.
“You Don’t Know Everything!”
It’s not every day you get a compliment for what you admit you don’t know.
Answering Hard Questions About Prayer
Recently, a good friend from my “pastoral past” wrote with some important questions about prayer. Many of us have had the same questions, but they were made much more personal for him through the recent loss of his wife. Here is the exchange we had.
Pentecost Eve
The disciples didn’t know it, but their entire world would change the day following Pentecost eve. They’d waited, but had no idea what the new life would be. Just like us, sometimes.
Lessons from a Death
Tim Keller’s death has prompted an incredible number of tributes across the evangelical and larger cultures. One common theme leads me to reflect and repent.
Ascension Day: When Christians Should be Looking Up!
Stained glass windows of the Ascension fill churches throughout the world, but it is a day that provokes little interest among most Bible-believing Christians. It should. Read on for why this is the case.
Happy Doubting Thomas Day!
Reconsidering an unfortunate nickname for a faithful follower of Jesus.
A New Year’s Encouragement from a Dying Man
One man’s death as a New Year began gives us all something to think about as this New Year begins.
Advent and Christmas: Waiting and Welcoming
Waiting is drawing to a close. Christmas comes tomorrow. But then, the waiting continues.
